FamilyKind is a community interest company supporting families across the Wigan borough through connection, guidance and early, preventative support.
We exist to bridge the gap between services and communities. Families often find themselves navigating complex education, health and wellbeing systems while also managing the everyday pressures of life. We provide safe, welcoming spaces where parents and carers feel heard, supported and empowered.
Our work is relational. We believe support works best when it is human, accessible and rooted in trust.

A Wigan where families feel supported, connected and confident in navigating services, education and community life.
We believe families should not need insider knowledge to access help. We believe support should feel welcoming rather than intimidating. And we believe strong communities are built on relationships.
Our Mission
To provide accessible, compassionate support for families through community-based services, peer networks and practical guidance, strengthening relationships between families, schools and services.
We work holistically with families, recognising that challenges rarely sit in isolation. Whether families are navigating additional needs processes, emotional wellbeing concerns, school relationships or wider life pressures, we offer practical guidance and trusted pathways into appropriate services.
We do not replace statutory services. We strengthen the connections between them and the families they serve.

Why We Exist
Families across Wigan report difficulty navigating complex systems, long waits for formal support and inconsistent communication between services. Many experience stress, isolation and burnout long before they meet thresholds for statutory intervention.
Schools and services work hard, but there is often a gap between eligibility and lived experience.
FamilyKind exists in that gap.
We provide early, preventative, community-based support that helps families engage earlier, more confidently and more sustainably.
How We Work
FamilyKind delivers support through:
- Community parent and carer groups
- One to one guidance sessions
- Inclusive family activities
- Early support and practical workshops
- School linked engagement and relational support
We operate through community venues, school partnerships and flexible delivery models, including evenings and weekends. Our approach is lean, collaborative and scalable.
All services are co designed with families to ensure they are relevant, trusted and accessible.
